Privacy Policy

Overview

HarpPilot has no account system, no advertising, and no analytics. Almost everything it does happens entirely on your device. The one feature that talks to the internet is importing tabs from HarpTabs.com, and this policy sets out exactly what that involves.

Microphone audio

When you use Track pitch or Find song key, HarpPilot listens through your microphone to work out which note you're playing or which key a song is in.

This audio is analyzed on your device as it arrives and then discarded. It is never recorded to a file, never stored, and never transmitted to us or to anyone else. No audio ever leaves your device.

Saved tabs and preferences

Tabs you save, along with your settings — theme, text size, selected scale and harp, and your harmonica inventory if you set one — are stored in your device's own local storage. We cannot see this data and it is never uploaded. There is no cloud sync and no backup on our side, which also means this data is lost if you delete the app.

Importing tabs from HarpTabs.com

This is the only part of HarpPilot that sends anything over the network, so it is worth being precise about.

When you search for a tab, the text you type is sent to a small proxy server we run, which forwards it to the HarpTabs.com API and returns the results. The same applies when you open a specific tab: its identifier is sent. Details:

An imported tab is stored locally like any other saved tab. The source name and URL are kept with it so the original author stays credited.

What we don't do

Children

HarpPilot is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Microphone permission

Your device will ask for microphone permission the first time you use Track pitch or Find song key. You can change your mind at any time in Settings → HarpPilot → Microphone. Without it those two features won't work; the rest of the app is unaffected.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
